Indian carrier Air India has announced an increase in the number of flights operating in the premium economy class, with the tickets being priced slightly higher than that of the economy class by ₹599 for domestic flights. This comes in the light of a increase in demand; premium economy ticket sales have nearly doubled in the last three years. The Tata Group-owned airline is the only carrier to offer this class on domestic routes and has a weekly availability of 50,000 seats, 68 per cent of which are for the critical metro to metro segments. The passengers when choosing premium economy while flying with Air India gets to enjoy some privileges which includes; free preferred seat choice, fast track check-in, boarding, baggage delivery, and more generous legroom with a 32-inch seat pitch, 4-inch recline, and better material for the seats. Passengers also get to experience an improved meal service with hot meals served in premium chinware. However, Air India Express is to begin direct flights from Bhubaneswar to Ghaziabad (Hindon) and Port Blair on the 30 th of March. The Odisha Chief Minister’s Office has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for improving air connectivity through the New Destination Policy, which will go a long way in promoting tourism and trade. As per the scheduled timetable, the flight to Hindon will take off from Bhubaneswar at 12:15 PM and arrive at its destination at 2:30 PM while the flight to Port Blair will take off at 10:35 AM and arrive at its destination at 12:55 PM. The return flights are scheduled to be as follows to ensure that there is a good connection.
