On X, Anand Mahindra offered praise to Virat Kohli for his outstanding performance after the batsman hammered his 51st ODI century as India crushed Pakistan in the Champions Trophy in Dubai. Kohli’s century ensured that India won the match and also sent Pakistan to almost being out of the tournament. They need Bangladesh to beat New Zealand and then beat Bangladesh to continue in the tournament.
Kohli’s century was a pressured craft, and he made it count, scoring his seventh boundary off 111 balls. He made it a double century by dispatching the last ball for a four. Anand Mahindra posted his appreciation of Kohli on X, writing: “You know you are a ‘chosen one’ when your match-winning stroke also precisely delivers you your century…” The post carried a image of Kohli in the middle of the match.
Pakistan could not set a strong target of 241 runs. The best performer of the day was Saud Shakeel who made 62 runs while the skipper Mohammad Rizwan played his role well by scoring 46 runs. But a 104-run partnership for India failed to help as Kuldeep Yadav took 3/40 and Hardik Pandya took 2/31 to rip apart Pakistan’s batting order.
India’s easy victory of India proved Kohli’s greatness and India’s control of the Champions Trophy.
