The cybercriminal hacker xenZen who caused the Star Health data breach now poses a dangerous threat to company executives. The hacker sent an ominous email on March 31 which revealed their responsibility for delivering two packages containing bullet cartridges to the Chennai headquarters of Star Health that were addressed to CEO Anand Roy and CFO Nilesh Kambli. The message warned, “Next one will go in ur and ur peoples head. tik tik tik.”
The hacker xenZen released 7.24 terabytes of data which revealed personal medical information from more than 31 million customers. The attackers launched their operation because policyholders kept complaining about their valid claims being rejected. The hacker has escalated their threats by referencing worldwide health insurance sector disturbances which include the 2024 UnitedHealthcare CEO murder.
The Tamil Nadu police have established a connection between xenZen and arrested a man in Telangana for his role in sending the packages. The active criminal investigation into Star Health includes legal action against both the hacker and Telegram for enabling stolen data distribution.
Health insurance companies face increasing dangers while hackers demonstrate greater audacity in modern digital times.
