The European market entry of Amul became official when the company partnered with Spanish dairy cooperative COVAP to launch fresh milk products in major Spanish cities. The Indian dairy leader Amul starts its European fresh milk distribution in Madrid and Barcelona while it plans to expand its reach to Seville and Valencia and Lisbon in Portugal. The company plans to establish a permanent presence in Germany and Switzerland and Italy as part of its long-term expansion strategy.
The formal launch of the Amul-COVAP partnership took place at the Indian Embassy in Madrid. The fresh milk launch in Europe marks a historic milestone for Amul according to Managing Director Jayen Mehta who described this move as the brand’s first entry into the European market. The partnership enables the promotion of Indian taste while helping Prime Minister Modi achieve his goal of making Amul a dominant global dairy company.
The partnership between COVAP and Amul represents a cooperative success which delivers advantages to dairy farmers operating in both India and Spain according to President Ricardo Delgado. The partnership benefits from COVAP’s strong processing capabilities which handle 400 million litres of milk annually.
The annual milk processing capacity of Amul reaches 12 billion litres while the company returns 80 paise from every rupee to its farmers and maintains its position as the world’s leading dairy brand. The European market introduction demonstrates Amul’s dedication to worldwide expansion.
