When the Life Corporation of India (LIC) was looking for a technology vendor to power its DIVE (Digital Innovation and Value Enhancement) initiative, it chose Infosys. The Bengaluru-based IT services company will allow the development of a next-generation digital platform to improve the experience of customers, workers, partners, and field force.
Infosys’ two core offerings—Cobalt and Topaz—take the stage. Infosys Cobalt is a portfolio of services, solutions, and platforms aimed to help organisations accelerate their cloud journeys, whereas Infosys Topaz adds GenAI capabilities to Cobalt. Prabhu Ram, vice-president—Industry Research Group (IRG), CyberMedia Research (CMR), believes that cloud platforms such as Infosys Cobalt have promise benefits.
However, their widespread adoption is dependent on variables such as cost, integration difficulty, and business requirements. “The success of Cobalt 2.0 will largely depend on how effectively it incorporates AI for decision-making and automation, shaping its appeal and growth beyond the current user base,” according to him.
The point is that, while the cloud has progressed beyond its original role as a storage tool and cost saver, and the majority of organisations have sophisticated cloud plans in place, they frequently confront challenges when incorporating AI into their operations.
According to Anant Adya, executive vice-president and head of Infosys’ service offering, “Cobalt helps enterprises grow and disrupt through industry-specific cloud solutions, cloud assets, and playbooks, also enabling the secure acceleration of AI adoption.” The focus has now moved to changing businesses with industry-specific cloud solutions as cloud, data, IoT, 5G, and AI join together to create business outcomes, he continued.
Consider Molina Healthcare, a Fortune 500 business that serves around 5.1 million people by offering managed healthcare services under the US Medicaid and Medicare programs. The healthcare company was able to get the most out of its cloud investments because of Infosys Cobalt. These days, it uses data and AI-powered capabilities to manage all of its business activities, including mission-critical systems, on the cloud.
“A key component of our digital transition has been expanding our cloud capabilities. Amir Desai, CIO of Molina Healthcare, added, “We also realise that the path to becoming an AI-first company that will enable us to service our members seamlessly is to continue strengthening these capabilities.
Adya claims that Infosys Cobalt has made it possible for cloud-powered transformation in a variety of industries by customising solutions to meet unique requirements. He said, “For example, the Cobalt Airline Cloud provides cloud-native business solutions that address the needs of many stakeholders in the airline sector, including regulators, travellers, station managers, and ground crew.
