In an effort to promote sustainable transportation, Rapido stated that it will be deploying 10,000 of Piaggio’s E-city Max swappable e-autos nationwide over the course of the next 24 months in collaboration with IndoFast Energy, a joint venture between IOCL and Sun transportation. The alliance intends to introduce more than 1,000 EVs into the public transport system by December 2024, starting in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and other significant southern cities.
In order to increase the accessibility, effectiveness, and convenience of electric cars, Rapido’s platform will incorporate IndoFast Energy’s cutting-edge swappable battery technology. The relationship began in 2023 with a trial program in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Delhi. Through the partnership, more than 100 swap stations have been established in Bengaluru and Hyderabad, enabling auto captains to replace batteries and cut down on downtime. About 20% of Rapido’s daily rides will be provided by swappable electric vehicles.
“At Rapido, our mission is to provide affordable, convenient, and eco-friendly mobility solutions,” stated Rapido co-founder Pavan Guntupalli. We can further improve our EV offers on the platform thanks to this relationship with IndoFast Energy, which is consistent with our dedication to sustainability. We are creating a new standard for the ride-hailing sector by providing swappable electric vehicles driven by our Captains, which will not only lessen the carbon imprint but also provide our drivers with long-term income options.
In India, Piaggio Vehicles, under the direction of Diego Graffi, is a pioneer in 3W electric mobility. Piaggio plans to introduce more than 10,000 3W EV swappable battery vehicles nationwide in the next 24 months, with more than 50,000 Ape Electrik vehicles now in use, including more than 2500 with swappable battery options. With little downtime, Rapido and IndoFast Energy are collaborating to provide EVs with a hopeful and affordable future. This collaboration significantly advances India’s EV objective and promotes the advantages of swappable battery options.
Compared to conventional petrol and diesel choices, “EV refuelling” is quicker, less expensive, and more convenient with IndoFast Energy’s switch stations, which enable customers to swap out empty batteries for fully charged ones in less than two minutes. Users only pay for the energy consumed in each exchange under the pay-per-use concept. To satisfy the increasing demand for swappable EVs, IndoFast Energy also intends to set up 10,000 swapping stations in more than 40 cities over the course of the next three years. To increase the number of environmentally friendly ride-hailing alternatives available, Rapido, in collaboration with IndoFast Energy, also intends to include high-speed premium two-wheelers and modified three-wheelers onto its platform.
