Infosys is to enforce system interventions’ to guarantee that employees spend at least 10 days a month in the office from March 10, 2025. The IT giant shared the news of the policy through an internal mail, stressing that the initiative is meant to strike a balance between the flexibility of the hybrid work model and compliance. The company will change its attendance system to effect the policy. To log attendance, employees will use a mobile app, but work-from-home requests will not be approved by default. Also, those who do not meet the office attendance requirements will have the shortfall deducted from their leave balance. The directive applies to employees at job level 5 (JL5) and below, including software engineers, senior engineers and consultants. Team leaders are JL5; managers, senior managers and delivery managers are JL6 and above. Vice Presidents are not part of JL6. A senior employee pointed out that there may be a decrease in efficiency with the new policy as remote work has helped to save a lot of time that would have been spent commuting. But Infosys thinks the system will sustain its hybrid model, to ensure that business needs are met while keeping some flexibility.
