Infosys plans to hire 20,000 engineering graduates during the current fiscal year because the company wants to match the recruitment numbers of its industry competitor TCS. The leading IT companies of India maintain their commitment to new college hires despite weak worldwide economic conditions and their projected minimal revenue growth. Wipro has decided to adjust its recruitment numbers according to market requirements instead of following a fixed hiring strategy.
The IT industry continues to maintain a sluggish pace of hiring because companies are still reducing their pandemic-era workforce expansion. The combination of automation and AI technology has caused entry-level coding positions to become less necessary which resulted in significant decreases in fresh graduate hiring during the past three years. The annual hiring plans of Infosys and TCS remain unchanged because these companies rely on new business deals and project expansions to meet their future staffing needs.
During the last fiscal year Infosys added 6,338 employees to its workforce which brought the total headcount to 3,23,578. The voluntary employee departure rate reached 14.1% during Q4 FY25 as it did in the previous year at 12.6%. The company delivered two rounds of pay increases ranging from 5% to 8% to most employees during January and April.
The cautious approach of Infosys does not stop the company from pursuing growth through new talent acquisition which aligns with TCS’s strategy to maintain a consistent flow of skilled engineers.
