Actor Mushtaq Khan revealed he was also abducted a few days after comedian Sunil Pal said he had been abducted. The actor was allegedly abducted while attending a function in Meerut. The actor reportedly received airline tickets and an advance payment to attend the event. According to Shivam Yadav, the actor’s business partner, the kidnappers allegedly tortured the actor for 12 hours and wanted a ransom of one crore. Ultimately, they deducted Rs 2 lakh from the actor’s and his son’s bank accounts. After hearing the morning azaan, Mushtaq fled, thinking there would be a mosque nearby.
“Mushtaq sir and his family were completely shaken over what happened with him,” Shivam told India Today. But he was always sure that he would file a FIR after he had calmed down. I went to Bijnor yesterday to formally register an FIR. We have documentation of the bank accounts, the travel ticket, and even CCTV video taken close to the airport. Additionally, he recognises the neighbourhood, including the home where he was detained. The police force will undoubtedly apprehend the offenders shortly, in my opinion.
Comedian Sunil Pal recalled a similar event a few days earlier. According to reports, the actor-comedian was abducted and demanded a ransom of Rs 20 lakh after being invited to an event in Haridwar. He informed the Times of India that he had no suspicions because they had sent a car to pick him up from the Delhi airport and had paid him an advance payment for his job. But after he arrived in Meerut, a group of guys reportedly moved him to a different car and gave him a shot full of poison to frighten him.
After discussions, the kidnappers allegedly forced him to provide Rs 7.5 lakh, and they even handed the actor Rs 20,000 so he could purchase a trip back to Mumbai. The comic remarked, “Once they found jobs, they promised to pay the ransom.” Following the actor’s safe return to Mumbai, a formal complaint was submitted to the Santacruz Police station. In addition to Sunil Pal and Mushtaq, actor Rajesh Puri reported a similar event in September, although he said he managed to get away with it.
In an interview with Free Press Journal, the actor said he received airplane tickets to an event in Meerut along with an advance payment of Rs 35,000, but he never got an official invitation. They moved him into another vehicle after they arrived in Delhi. They then began moving toward Meerut, and when I questioned them about it, they gave me evasive answers. I then realised that something was amiss. I made them uneasy by mentioning my powerful contacts in Delhi. When we were 12 kilometres from Meerut, they took me to a dhaba for dinner. He was informed that he had been abducted by the kidnappers there. But they left him at the border, where his brother-in-law came to get him.
