The Indian technology brand Acer has partnered with Plumage Solutions to create a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for IT hardware in Puducherry which will establish the city as a major production center. The new production unit operates under the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme for IT Hardware to support Acer’s dedication to the ‘Make in India’ vision.
The Puducherry facility will produce 300,000 laptops annually while manufacturing computer monitors and all-in-one desktops and servers and workstations and power adapters. Acer India implements this expansion to achieve localisation goals which include import reduction and supply chain optimization and price competitiveness for both urban and emerging market customers.
The project will generate skilled employment opportunities while strengthening the local economy and establishing Puducherry as a key manufacturing site. The Plumage Group will invest ₹50 crore during the next three to four years to boost Acer’s production capabilities.
The partnership between Acer and Plumage will establish new quality and efficiency standards through their combined expertise while helping India achieve its goal of becoming a global electronics manufacturing center.
