Reliance Power operates through Reliance NU Energies which obtained a 350 MW solar power project that includes a 175 MW/700 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to enhance its clean energy capabilities. The project received its award through competitive bidding from SJVN as part of a 1,200 MW solar and 600 MW/2,400 MWh BESS tender which attracted 19 bidders who qualified for the final e-auction among 18 participants.
The awarded tariff stands at ₹3.33 per kWh, locked in for 25 years, and mandates a minimum daily discharge window of four hours—ensuring consistent power supply during peak demand. The operational project will increase Reliance Power unit’s clean energy portfolio by adding 600 MWp of solar PV and 700 MWh of storage capacity to its existing 2.5 GWp solar and 2.5 GWh BESS capabilities.
Reliance NU Suntech Pvt Ltd which belongs to Reliance Power signed a 25-year PPA with SECI to develop Asia’s largest integrated solar-BESS project consisting of 930 MW solar capacity and 465 MW/1,860 MWh BESS. The ₹10,000 crore investment expands Reliance Power’s renewable energy operations.
