Ananya Panday initiated a new chapter in her life last year when she acquired her initial condominium in Mumbai. It is intriguing that the apartment is located in the same building where she spent her childhood with her parents, actors Chunky Panday and Bhavana Panday. The Panday family recently provided a glimpse into their opulent, expansive residences, which boast a warm, inviting ambience and large, open windows, during a recent interview.
Ananya disclosed a sentimental attachment to the structure during a discussion on Asian Paints’ YouTube channel, mentioning that her father, Chunky Panday, also spent his childhood there. “My father also grew up in this structure.” This is the initial residence that I occupied. We occupied three distinct apartments and resided in a joint family on the first floor. My grandmother was opposed to the act of sealing doors, which is why we maintained an open-door policy. “My childhood was richly rewarding,” she stated.
Chunky Panday provided a more detailed account of the family’s tenure in the structure, stating, “We have resided in this building since 1971.” It began with a single terraced apartment, and in the 1990s, I acquired a three-bedroom apartment. We have been fortunate to have our two daughters; they have enjoyed this home and made significant contributions.
The most striking feature of Chunky Panday’s elegant residence, which is surrounded by lush vegetation, is the expansive glass windows. This is demonstrated in the video. The room is contemporary and airy, with walls that are adorned with family photographs and memorabilia. A large veranda adorned with plants and a small garden is accessible from the rooms.
Chunky jokingly observed that their residence frequently becomes disorganised following parties, stating, “The house is entirely demolished after parties.” Bhavana further stated, “I recall a party at which cake was present on my couches and on the faces of my guests.” Ananya has caused damage to my residence on multiple occasions. Chunky then made a jest about how Ananya anticipates that they will be “extremely meticulous” about her residence during their visits. Bhavana further stated, “She instructs us on how to hold a mug and to leave our shoes outside.” He reflected on their residence, stating, “The energy of this house has been so joyful over the years.” There is a form of divine intervention at play here.
Additionally, Ananya conducted an apartment tour that illustrated her distinctive aesthetic. She elucidated that she desired her residence to exude warmth and hospitality, which is why all of the seating areas are adorned with soft, comfortable fabrics. She emphasised her dog’s “messy corner,” where she spends the majority of her time, and provided a glimpse of her walk-in closet, which is designed as an open space to allow her to view all of her clothing simultaneously. Nevertheless, she declined to disclose her chamber.
Gauri Khan, Shah Rukh Khan’s wife, was responsible for the design of Ananya’s apartment. Ananya previously discussed her collaboration with Gauri on her space in an interview with Architectural Digest India. She stated, “It was an extremely special experience for me to have Gauri Khan renovate my home, as she is like a member of my family.” I have spent my entire life in her presence, and she has absorbed it effortlessly. In all honesty, I could not have asked for a more perfect experience.
