Sandhya theatre stampede case, arrest of Allu Arjun: Actor Allu Arjun, who starred in the popular movie Pushpa 2: The Rule, was taken into custody on Friday in relation to a lady who died a few days earlier at a special screening of the movie. While the actor was there, a stampede-like event occurred at the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. A 39-year-old lady died as a result of the turmoil, and a child was hurt. In a video message, Allu Arjun conveyed his sorrow and pledged assistance for the woman’s family. This is a chronology of what happened.
Allu Arjun went to the Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad on December 4th to see a special screening of Pushpa 2. M Revathi was identified as the victim; she had gone to the premiere with her husband, M Bhaskar, their son, and their daughter, who was seven years old. The police claim that the stampede started when the theatre gates gave way under the weight of the rushing crowd.
In an interview with the media, Bhaskar detailed the incidents. The crowd unexpectedly grew when Allu Arjun came, and I lost contact with my wife and children. Revathi was inside with our kid, while I was outside with my daughter. She first told me they were inside when I phoned, but then she turned off her phone. I left my daughter off at a relative’s house while she was crying, then returned to find my wife and son. They were gone by then. I recognised the individuals who showed me a video. They were brought to Durga Bai Deshmukh Hospital, I was informed. I was told that she had died and that her body had been transferred to Gandhi Hospital at around 2:00 PM,” he claimed.
Mythri Movie Makers, the film’s creators, posted a message on social media after the incident. “We are deeply saddened by the tragic event that occurred during last night’s screening,” they said in a post on December 5. The family and the small kid receiving medical care are in our prayers and thoughts. We pledge to be there for them and provide all assistance we can during this trying time, with much sadness.
After the event, Allu Arjun, the management of the Sandhya Theatre, and his security detail were charged. “A case has been filed under BNS section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt) at Chikkadpally police station based on the complaint of the family members of the deceased person,” Akshansh Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Central Zone, Hyderabad Police, told The Indian Express. They’re looking into it. All those accountable for the chaotic scenario inside the theatre that resulted in a person’s death and injuries to others will face severe legal punishment.
The next day, Allu Arjun spoke out about the issue. “Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre,” he remarked in a video that was shared on social media on December 6. My deepest sympathies are with the bereaved family during this unfathomably trying moment. I will personally visit with the family to reassure them that they are not alone in their suffering. I’m determined to offer them whatever support I can to get them through this difficult time while also honouring their need for time to grieve. The actor further said that he will cover the family’s medical costs and is giving them a “goodwill gesture” of Rs 25 lakh.
Allu Arjun discussed the tragedy once more at the film’s success meeting on December 7, stating that it took him hours to come to terms with it. “A really regrettable occurrence happened at Sandhya Cinema. We sincerely apologise for this. It was not until the next morning that I became aware of it. I was shocked to learn about it on December 5. Processing it and reacting to the issue takes hours. I was unable to psychologically absorb it. I spent around ten hours on it. When we received the news, we all went blank. At the event, Sukumar became quite emotional, he claimed.
A team from the Chikkadpally police station, where the complaint was filed, arrested Allu Arjun on December 13. At the same time, Pushpa 2 is smashing box office records, becoming Arjun’s biggest hit and one of the greatest Indian blockbusters ever.
