The Hollywood location of Elon Musk’s Tesla Diner received both public interest and negative feedback since its opening just a few days ago. The retro-futuristic drive-in restaurant with gourmet burgers and film screenings and Tesla charging stations has encountered operational problems and extended wait times which disappointed numerous customers.
The futuristic eatery attracted hundreds of visitors who waited in line after its 4:20pm opening which served as a humorous tribute to Musk. Technical problems began to appear shortly after the establishment opened. The app problems at Tesla led to driver priority access which resulted in non-Tesla owners facing delays of three hours for their food orders. Many devoted fans endured the hot weather and absent milkshakes and chicken items to stay at the establishment.
The diner presented mid-century architectural design with chrome interior elements yet customers found the culinary experience unimpressive. The experience suffered from cold waffles and basic sodas and long delays but the Cybertruck-shaped boxes and futuristic atmosphere provided some positive aspects.
The Optimus robot failed to show up after the first night but customers kept buying merchandise. During the Tesla earnings call Musk described the project as ”a shiny beacon of hope.” The diner represented to many people a situation where ambition exceeded actual delivery.
