Google DeepMind has placed AI email tool development at the forefront of its priorities according to CEO Demis Hassabis during his SXSW London presentation. The new tool aims to transform email management through automatic handling of routine messages and personalized reply generation.
According to Hassabis AI will create societal transformations on par with the internet and Industrial Revolution by first addressing everyday digital problems such as email inbox overload. The tool functions as a “next-generation email” system which detects unimportant messages before generating appropriate responses and performing basic tasks for the user.
The AI email tool functions as a protective assistant to defend users from persistent algorithmic demands for attention. Hassabis envisions AI technology to improve human life by handling tasks while allowing people to concentrate on essential matters.
Hassabis discussed general AI issues while emphasizing that worldwide collaboration remains essential. According to Hassabis AGI will appear between 5–10 years so economists and social scientists need to study its extensive social effects on equitable benefit distribution in a future of “radical abundance.”
