You may have the right to obtain citizenship of a country even if you were not born there. But this is done at a price which is quite steep. There are Golden Visas that many countries offer to wealthy individuals on the basis of investment. It is a win-win situation: countries need money for their development and therefore offer these visas, while the visa holders get certain privileges. One of the major advantages of a Golden Visa is that the visa itself can bring many privileges without the need to actually live in the country. Here are the list of some of the most expensive visa programs in the world: Malta Malta Golden Visa is one of the costliest in the world and starts from 6.2 million (54 crore INR). It provides visa free or visa on arrival to almost 190 countries including European Union countries. The beneficiaries also get access to world class education and citizenship rights. Italy Italy offers Golden Visas for investments between €250,000 and €2 million (2.35 crore to 18.82 crore INR). This visa entitles the holder to work, study and live in Italy and also to travel visa free within the Schengen area of Europe. United Arab Emirates (UAE) The UAE offers a Residence by Investment visa for a minimum investment of AED 2 million (4.75 crore INR). This allows the holder to stay in any of the seven emirates and includes spouse and unmarried children in the visa without additional charges. Greece Greece’sthe Residence by Investment visa requires a real estate investment of at least €250,000 (2.35 crore INR). This offers visa free travel to Schengen Area countries and provides for application for citizenship after seven years. Cyprus Cyprus has the least strict Golden Visa requirements and offers it for a minimum investment of €300,000 (2.82 crore INR). Beneficiaries of the visa are required to visit the country every two years but enjoy free travel within Europe and the ability to work and study in Cyprus. These Golden Visa programs are a way to a better life abroad, but the price for it is rather high.
