Airtel and Perplexity AI have established a historic alliance to give all 390 million Airtel subscribers a complimentary 12-month subscription to Perplexity Pro. The partnership between Airtel and Perplexity enables all mobile broadband and DTH users to access the AI-powered search platform Perplexity Pro through the Airtel Thanks app without any annual fee of ₹17,000.
Perplexity enters the Indian market through its first partnership with a telecom operator by offering its real-time conversational search capabilities to users. The Vice Chairman & MD of Bharti Airtel Gopal Vittal described this partnership as the first-ever Gen-AI collaboration which aims to help users feel secure while exploring digital spaces.
Perplexity has established partnerships with Motorola T-Mobile and SoftBank to expand its innovative tools GPT-4o Claude 3.5 Sonnet and smart shopping features across the global market. The company’s co-founder Aravind Srinivas stated that the organization works to provide professional-grade AI solutions to students and professionals as well as households.
The Indian AI market faces intense competition because Google and other companies provide free AI tools to expand their user base. Through its partnership with Airtel Perplexity gains access to India’s extensive internet user population which drives its expansion in the rapidly developing digital market of one of the world’s fastest-growing economies.
