During the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025, Assam is all set to receive a huge boost in infrastructure development with nearly ₹1 lakh crore worth of investments. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that different government agencies including the Central government have promised huge amount of money for road transport, railway connectivity, waterways and air connectivity.
At the summit, CM Sarma made a speech on the necessity of the infrastructure in the growth of the state and the need for connectivity. “The honorable union ministers have announced various projects in roads, railways, airways, and waterways since yesterday. If we combine all these commitments, the total investment is almost ₹1 lakh crore,” he stated.
The aim of the proposed infrastructure projects is to enhance logistics, trade and connectivity both within Assam and other parts of the country and abroad thus positioning the state as a prime economic destination of the Northeast. The government’s focus is on expanding road networks, upgrading railway lines, improving airports and enhancing waterways for easier movement of goods and services.
CM Sarma also pointed out to the growing need for skilled human resource to implement these huge projects. He stressed on the need to produce engineers and other technically qualified persons to support Assam’s growing infrastructure sector.
This is because with this massive investment Assam is set to become a major business and trade hub and thereby attract more investments and industries based on its strategic location and improved connectivity in the years to come.
