Axis Bank introduces ‘in-app mobile OTP’ as a security measure to fight cyber fraud and scams. The mobile app ‘open’ from the private sector giant now provides users with time-based one-time passwords (TOTP) directly through the app to replace SMS-based authentication.
The implementation provides users with faster authentication processes and enhanced security through reduced dependence on telecom networks. The device-specific and internet-based security feature of the bank protects users who face high risks from SIM-swap attacks and phishing scams especially those who travel internationally.
The new feature of Axis Bank allows customers to access internet banking and approve transactions through the ‘in-app mobile OTP’ functionality. Users can access this feature worldwide as long as they have internet connectivity without needing SMS delivery.
The system provides immediate notification to customers about all login attempts and transaction requests. The system maintains complete visibility for users regarding their account activities.
Sameer Shetty, President – Digital Business & Transformation emphasized that customer safety stands as the bank’s most important concern. The implementation of ‘in-app mobile OTP’ represents Axis Bank’s commitment to establishing India’s most secure digital banking platform.
