To promote cultural and educational interaction, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre (TECC) in India and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Guwahati have cooperated.
In accordance with the agreement, TECC will help IIT Guwahati find Taiwanese instructors to teach Mandarin. Teachers like these will improve students’ language proficiency and knowledge of culture, especially for those who want to work in Taiwan’s agritech and semiconductor sectors or pursue internships. In return, IIT Guwahati will set up the Taiwan Education Center on its campus, enabling seminars, workshops, and exchange initiatives.
“IIT Guwahati is a leading university and a key player in northeast India and the semiconductor industry,” stated Peters Chen, Director of TECC’s Education Division. Students will get the chance to learn Mandarin and gain cultural awareness of Taiwan. In the near future, we plan to hire a Taiwanese instructor to conduct the Test of Chinese Language as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) on campus and offer financial aid for further education in Taiwan.”
“We are enhancing our students’ linguistic capabilities and broadening their cultural perspectives by incorporating Mandarin language instruction into our curriculum and forging strong ties with leading Taiwanese institutions,” said Professor Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, emphasizing the university’s dedication to international educational connections and diverse learning opportunities.
Through this relationship, our students will be able to explore a variety of educational courses and develop a broader understanding of the global environment, particularly in the semiconductor sector. It will also open up new prospects for research, business, and academia. We are excited about the possibilities this partnership presents and we know it will have a significant positive impact on our children’s overall growth.”
