NTPC Green Energy has announced its plans to increase its clean energy operations in Bihar through renewable energy and battery energy storage systems (BESS). The state-run entity signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bihar State Power Generation Company Limited (BSPGCL), marking a key step toward decarbonisation and green transition in the state.
The agreement, inked by NGEL CEO Sarit Maheswari and BSPGCL Director Technical Abdesh Kumar Singh, was signed in the presence of Bihar’s Energy Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav and senior state officials. This partnership is set to spearhead clean energy infrastructure in Bihar, aligning with India’s broader goal of reducing carbon emissions and enhancing energy security.
NTPC Green Energy, the green arm of NTPC, is taking the lead in India’s energy shift by pursuing a 60 GW renewable target by FY32. Through this MoU, Bihar is expected to gain not only cleaner electricity but also improved grid stability through advanced battery storage systems.
The move places NTPC Green Energy at the forefront of sustainable development in eastern India and demonstrates its commitment to building an energy-resilient future using both organic growth and strategic collaborations.
