Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asked the agricultural stakeholders to give their views on how to improve the implementation of the current schemes and how to ensure that this year’s budget is well implemented at the grassroots level. At a post-budget webinar on “Agriculture and Rural Prosperity,” Modi said the government has presented a full budget in its third term, and has maintained policy consistency and continuity, and in tune with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Modi said that the budget was prepared after consulting with various stakeholders before it was made. However, he pointed out that the next big thing is to implement it effectively. “This time, it is very important that this budget is implemented properly on the ground,” he said, asking the stakeholders to concentrate on the challenges to be faced in the course of execution.
Agriculture is the main driver of the economy and the government is keen on agricultural advancement and rural prosperity. He also stressed the need to increase the production of pulses to lessen India’s dependence on import. He also asked the private sector to come forward and invest in high yielding crop seeds to increase production and decrease the food insecurity.
The Prime Minister was very much clear that the discussion should be on how to enhance the existing schemes rather than preparing another budget. “The webinar should not be on how to write another budget. The budget has been made, and all of our focus should be on execution,” he said. To Modi, agricultural stakeholders can help accelerate rural development by determining the gaps and challenges in the execution of the budget.
With a focus on the execution of policies, the address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi reveals the government’s determination to advance agriculture and self-reliance. It is expected that stakeholders will be coming up with their ideas on how to improve the current initiatives in order to achieve the goal of rural prosperity.
