The mobile banking service of SBI encountered problems across the nation on April 1 when users experienced problems with fund transfers and account access. The Downdetector platform recorded its highest number of complaints from 11:00 to 11:30 AM IST where mobile banking issues made up 64% of problems while fund transfers accounted for 33% and ATM services made up 3%.
Users across social media platforms shared their worries about transaction failures and delayed payment processing. SBI announced through official statements that digital services would experience unavailability from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM IST because of annual closing activities. The bank recommended customers to use UPI Lite and ATM services as alternatives during this time. The bank has not provided any information about the disruptions that occurred before the scheduled maintenance period. The new UPI rules which went into effect on April 1st limited transactions to active mobile numbers and may have caused users problems with mobile banking.
The bank has not provided any official explanation for the ongoing technical problems which has caused frustration among customers who cannot complete their transactions.
