Swiggy has introduced a high-protein food category across 30 cities to satisfy India’s growing need for nutritious protein-rich meals. Swiggy now provides more than 500,000 high-protein dishes from 35,000 partner restaurants throughout key markets including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru and Chandigarh. The platform provides an easy way to select nutritious options through its curated selection of meals which fulfill specific nutritional standards including at least 15 grams of protein and 700 kcal or less per serving and 10% of total calories from protein.
Swiggy’s vice-president for food strategy Deepak Maloo stated that the company launched this initiative to fulfill its mission of guiding consumer preferences through the combination of healthy and tasty food options. Users can find the High Protein section on the app by searching for “protein” or “diet” which organizes dishes based on protein content and source including paneer and soya to help customers select suitable options.
During the pilot phase more than 1.8 million customers tried these healthier food options with Mumbai and Bengaluru and Delhi leading the number of orders. Swiggy’s high-protein food initiative addresses the nutritional needs of Indians because 73% of the population lacks sufficient protein according to IMRB data while providing convenient and tasty options.
