BJP state vice-president Narayanan Tirupati has said that KS Azhagiri has given a confession that he was involved in corruption by increasing the project estimate several times during the Congress regime. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President KS Azhagiri criticized that the central BJP government is working in favor of the northern states and against the southern states in the railway projects. BJP is trying to capture power through backdoor channels as it is afraid to face Congress in coming 2024 polls.
In response to this, BJP State Vice President Narayanan Tirupathi posted on Twitter, “The Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi railway project was launched in 2006-07 and the funding requirement of Rs 11400 crore was announced, only Rs 211 crore was allocated in 2020 and Rs 1000 crore in 2023-24. Congress party leader KS Alagiri has also said that it has been reserved. Social media was flooded by number of tweets by BJP leaders and other party leaders.
Speaking to media persons after hoisting the party flag in the presence of Sholingur MLA A. M. Munirathinam, in Mamandur village near Arakkonam town to commemorate Mr. Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Mr. Alagiri addressed a question about Mr. Gandhi’s unsuccessful attempt to stay his conviction and two-year sentence in a defamation case at the Gujarat High Court.
Mr. Alagiri’s response to the question reflected his perspective on the situation. He began by acknowledging Mr. Gandhi’s efforts to challenge the conviction and sentence in the defamation case. He expressed his understanding of the importance of defending one’s reputation and the right to seek legal remedies available in such circumstances.
