Hindustan Copper - Business Outrank

Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) expands its mining operations through a strategic partnership with Chile’s Codelco which operates as the world's leading copper producer. The Kolkata-based PSU HCL plans to increase its yearly production from 3.47 million tonnes to 12 million tonnes during FY 2030-31 through international expertise acquisition for operational and technical enhancement. The HCL Chairman and MD Sanjiv Kumar Singh verified that Codelco experts currently visit India to evaluate HCL's mining sites and operational facilities. The Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) in Madhya Pradesh serves as the central focus of this plan since HCL completed its transition to underground mining and reached a record 2.73 million tonnes of ore production in FY25 while exceeding targets by 3%. The partnership aims to discover deeper mineral deposits while developing technical skills through possible joint operations in Chile. The MoU seeks to discover deeper ore reserves and enhance operational performance according to HCL's strategic plan for future expansion. The CAG audit revealed past challenges but HCL now uses Malanjkhand as its main expansion base through Codelco's worldwide expertise.
