ITI upgrade plan - Business Outrank

Major Indian companies including Reliance and Adani and Mahindra have joined forces with the government to execute its ₹60,000 crore initiative for ITI modernization across India. The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship leads this initiative to transform 1,000 ITIs through a hub-and-spoke model while training two million youth during five years and making vocational education match industry requirements. The program has attracted twelve companies which include Reliance and Adani and Mahindra and JK Cement and Jindal Group and Toyota India and Schneider Electric and ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel to submit their preferences for particular states and sectors. JK Cement plans to deliver training in construction electronics renewable energy and hospitality throughout Rajasthan UP and MP while Reliance targets Maharashtra Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh for training in renewables retail petrochemicals and advanced manufacturing. The hub-and-spoke model will provide advanced hubs with the capability to support smaller local ITIs. The National Steering Committee under Skill Secretary Rajit Punhani will direct the execution process to maintain high standards of quality and industry-relevant outcomes. The scheme receives backing from the Asian Development Bank and World Bank to demonstrate India's efforts in closing skill gaps while promoting manufacturing and creating employment opportunities that match industry requirements.
