Adani Group - Business Outrank

The Adani Group, headed by Gautam Adani, a billionaire, has reported an increase in tax payments in the financial year 2023-24, having paid Rs 58,104 crore, which is almost two times the amount paid in the previous year, i.e., Rs 46,610 crore. The figures were mentioned in the group’s Tax Transparency Reports which discuss its enhanced financial support to the exchequer. In addition to direct global taxes, duties, and employee-related levies, this total includes indirect taxes collected and remitted on behalf of stakeholders. Adani Ports and SEZ, Adani Enterprises, Adani Green Energy, Adani Power, Adani Energy Solutions, Adani Total Gas and Ambuja Cements are seven listed Adani entities that come under the report. It also includes the taxes paid by NDTV, ACC and Sanghi Industries, which are owned by these entities. "As per FY24, the total global tax of Adani Group was ₹58,104.4 crores, which is an upgrade from ₹46,610.2 crores in the previous year," the company stated. Gautam Adani also highlighted the company's commitment to transparency and good corporate governance and said, "Every single rupee that we pay is a testament to our commitment to ethics and accountability. In order to build trust with our stakeholders, we have decided to disclose this information on a voluntary basis and thus set new standards for responsible business behaviour." The Adani Group's Tax Transparency Report is developed in conjunction with the group's broader ESG framework, which seeks to achieve sustainable growth by aligning growth with social responsibility. The group sought the help of a professional agency in order to assure the tax data which, in turn, reinforces the group's commitment to transparency. As Adani Group reveals its tax details to the public, it enhances the confidence of its stakeholders and at the same time, aligns with the standards of responsible corporate behaviour that are gradually being adopted on a global scale.
